Zimbabwe is situated in southern Africa between the Limpopo and Zambezi rivers. It is a country booming with life and rich with mesmerizing views and natural landscapes, including Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. But ultimately, it’s the majestic and intriguing wildlife that gives the country its magic charm. Exploring the Savannahs of Zimbabwe will reveal magnificent land mammals including the African bush elephant and the white rhino. Up in the skies, the eagle (Zimbabwe’s national bird) can be seen soaring high whilst in rivers and lakes the hippopotamus and over 100 species of fish can be spotted. It’s not hard to see why the Pangea team fell in love with the country and its wildlife during their visit in January 2019. Whilst in Zimbabwe, Managing Director, Ian and General Manager, Bev were impressed not only by the wildlife but the artists depictions of such animals. They quickly fell in love with the sculptures and it was clear that a new partnership would blossom.

ArtPrideAfrica is a new collective formulated by businessman Denny Simon in Zimbabwe. Denny and his team of artists have put together a collection of beautiful recycled metal animal sculptures. The collaboration brings a Zimbabwean twist on all the classics including elephants, giraffes, hippos and rhinos alongside the introduction of some never before seen animal sculptures to the Pangea range. Farmyard animals such as pigs, goats and cockerels feature beside small birds like robins, blue tits and guinea fowl. Sculptures in the ArtPrideAfrica range have already become firm favourites with staff and customers alike with meerkats and hedgehogs being hugely popular.

Not only does the Zimbabwe range showcase new animals but new metals, colours and welding techniques too. Eccentric art lovers will adore the colourful giraffe sculpture which is created from recycled red, yellow, white, green and blue painted oil drums. Whilst the expert welding on duck and hedgehog sculptures will trick you into thinking these small sculptures are the real thing! The pelican in the Zimbabwe range is brought to life using white metal strips that are expertly welded to create detail and texture to its feathers and depict the instantly recognisable bill perfectly. Whether it’s the layered scales of the pangolin, the flat beak of the goose or the hand painted spots of the guinea fowl, it is clear to see that tremendous care and incredible attention to detail have been taken when crafting each and every sculpture in the range.

Not only do Denny and his team of artists create wonderful metal sculptures, they have provided Pangea with an incredible stone sculpture range. Stone sculptures range from a tiny 7cm to a staggering 1.8 metres tall.
