Legends of Industry Awards 2019

WOW! What an evening celebrating Variety the Children’s Charity and acknowledging individuals that have made a huge impact helping children, either through their own work or support of the charity.

Held at the Hilton Hotel at Deansgate in Manchester the black tie dinner was brimming with excitement, glamour and most of all pride.

With over 350 guests the event was a huge success raising £130, 000 for the Charity. As well as the awards ceremony there was a silent auction with some fabulous treats from holidays to Sri Lanka and Abu Dhabi to private boxes for premier league football matches and private dining at some really sophisticated restaurants.

The main auction saw a one off piece of art brought to life by local artist Clare Wright – The Bee, a tribute for the Manchester Arena bombing. Pangea Sculptures auctioned a medium giraffe and large stag which raised a whopping £4,000 alone. Something we are more than proud about.

Awards were presented to many familiar faces including Sheridan Smith, Beth Tweddle, Deborah Meaden, Cannon & Ball, Lucy Meacock and Mike Summerbee. Pangea Sculptures manager Bev Howard was delighted to present an award to Dr Erinma Bell MBE, a peace activist who was born in Moss Side, Manchester, and is an advocate for the prevention of gun crime. Educating the youth of today is paramount in helping to conquer such crime and Dr Bell is a firm believer that children, particularly boys, need constant positive alternatives to street crime.. Dr Bell has seven boys herself and was determined that her boys would grow up as individuals that were wise on the streets and able to feel confident without the need for a weapon. Dr Bell continues to  share her wealth of knowledge and provide help and support to youngsters growing up in a society that is peppered with crime through her community project, CARISMA. Dr Bell works tirelessly to maintain a socially inclusive community in the North West.

Award Winners GraphicPangea Sculptures received an Appreciation Award on the night, for sponsorship of an award on the evening. The award now sits proudly in the showroom in Lancashire. Pangea continues to support Variety the Children’s Charity and would be honoured to support the event again next year.

We were delighted to be recognised by Harold Tillman CBE, Chief Barker and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Variety, the Children’s Charity.
“The Legends of Industry Awards has the commitment and loyalty of many respected individuals and businesses – our Partnership Sponsor, Cerberus Group, as well as Grant Thornton UK, Reward Invoice Finance, Davenham Asset Finance and Pangea Sculptures amongst many others – and we remain very grateful for your ongoing support.”
